Moverio BT-100 is Epson Japan’s newest see-through 3D Head-Mounted Display (HMD) that sports a classic look in blue-blocker feature combining transparent display with 3D viewing.

The device is fitted with two 960 x 540 qHD resolution transparent lenses at 0.52-inch thickness and Dolby Mobile technology-powered built-in earbuds. The control unit is Froyo-powered and enables access to contents and has 1Gb of internal memory and WiFi connectivity. The headset weights just 240g and has a dimension of 205×178×47mm.
On the other hand, the display’s controller also contains a 2D/3D Android toggle switch and a d-pad in addition to the touch-sensitive trackpad. It weights 160g and has a dimension of 67×107×19mm.

For media storage, an SD card slot is provided which includes a 4Gb card as part of a package. Epson touted HMD as the first of its kind that mixed the features of NEC’s HMD TeleScouter and Sony’s HMD HMZ-T1 in an Android environment. Pictures in 3D or 2D can be watched on a virtual 80-inch display which is 5m away without losing an eye on the rest of the real world. Video files supported by BT-100 include MPEG-4 AVC, MPEG-4, H.264 and side-by-side 3D images while that of audio files include MP3 and AAC.
The Epson Moverio BT-100 comes in Japan at 10,000 units on November 25 with a price tag of $771.
