It has been said and publicized before that Google’s closest competitor on the web is Facebook. And there’s no doubt about that, but telling Facebook beat Google without including any indications that it only happened on USA is very unfair for other people located on places beyond Abraham’s Lincoln land. And that’s the buzz leaking today throughout the blogosphere.

In case you missed the 2010 hitwise train today, the web-statistics company crowned Facebook as the number one most trafficked / visited website in USA gathering the whole US traffic percentage up to 8.93%, this include popular searches last November like “Facebook” and “Facebook login”. Google on the other hand accumulated 7.19% getting the second spot, yahoo mail as third receiving 3.52% and yahoo.com fourth place (3.30%) and last but not the least, Youtube got the 5th spot for 2.65% of the overall US traffic.
So what do these stats tell? Honestly, vagueness and pointless debate. Because it’s obvious that if you’ll add all Google properties including Youtube it will accumulate a total of 9.85% toppling down Facebook. At this point, you can’t really compare Facebook and Google yet in terms of service each provide with the netizens but maybe in the future when Google successfully find its way on launching its own social-networking service.
Again, this statistic is only valid for USA traffic. God knows, how big was the traffic of Google compared to Facebook on a global scale for this year.
