We cannot deny the fact that Facebook is indeed the most popular social networking sites that we have today. And knowing this, Facebook has been continually committed in improving its sites that resulted in offering lots of new features that will help enhance the user experience of most Facebook users out there. And just recently, a new photo-sharing app has been integrated on the iPhone and iPad. This project is known as the Facebook Project Spartan. Well, this project is actually a secret project within Facebook, but even if the people behind this project have tried to be quiet about it, still some leaks has come out in the open.
Basically, the Facebook Project Spartan is the codename for a new platform that Facebook will be launching. This project is entirely a HTML-based and the objective of this project is to reach out more users especially those who are on the mobile world that is estimated to have reached around 100 million users already. The rumors are getting stronger that Facebook will be releasing a mobile platform that is especially intended to work on the iPhone and iPad. Although the only difference is that this platform will not be distributed as a native application at the Apple App store, but will be more of an entirely HTML5-based app that will work on Safari. This is because of the fact that it is one area of the device that Facebook will be able to control.
Facebook remains silent about this ongoing rumor, but those who are familiar with this project strongly believes that the signs are very strong that Facebook aims to target Apple’s own devices in order to break the Apple’s strong hold on the mobile application distribution industry. Well, obviously Facebook is in the right position to challenge the App store distribution mechanism, but they have to make it on Apple’s devices.
The Facebook iPhone app is basically built around photo sharing and as seen on some of the images, it may show some indication that it needs to improve a little further. Well, if Facebook will be able to push with this project successfully, then this may bring this social networking site in being the largest photo service on the internet.
