Part of the F8 event of Facebook today, the company is launching another interesting developer tool that will let you send links specifically to your friends, called simply as “send”.
Unlike the Like button in which the link will automatically be posted on your wall, the Send Button is like sending an e-mail to your friends, in which you can type the recipient (your friend’s name) and a simple message along with the attached link.
To make everything more convenient, the send button is now available to install on your website, but this one is only compatible if you have picked the XBL code instead of the iFrame one. Likewise, your website should accept Jscript to run this tool.
Installing it is very easy, you’ll just need to visit this link, check the options you want, get the code and voila! It will automatically be appended on the right side of your Like button, just where it is supposed to be. To make everything even more simple, you can add send=true after the href=”” on your Facebook like code and the send button will instantly appear.
As of the moment, Facebook didn’t disclose anything until when will this be compatible for users who are using iFrame for their Like buttons. Meanwhile, enjoy!
