If you’re an avid Facebook (FB) user, chances are you’ve noticed the recent site changes and then you happen to have heard of the so-called FB Timeline.

It’s pretty cool actually but FB’s Timeline release has been moved or to be specific it will be on a delayed launch as FB has been sued over the feature by Timelines.com for trademark infringes. The five-year old Chicago-based company owns the US trademarks for “Timelines”, “Timelines.com” and “Timelines&design.” What it offers in its site is the ability to view and create multimedia timelines of historical events. Timelines.com is also responsible for developing the timelines of different sports team in partnership with The Boston Globe.
Facebook Timeline is a feature that happens to reorganize the user’s profile by making it a scrapbook type (due to tons of multimedia creating a digital history). There are already 1.1 million users who have utilized the Timeline feature through their profiles courtesy of developer access.
The patent lawsuit which prohibits FB users from signing onto the developer program requested by Timelines.com was rejected by a federal judge. What the judge did however was to order FB to have a daily report on the number of developers enabling the Timeline. FB was also directed not to launch the feature until both parties meet again on Tuesday in court.
