If you are an avid Facebook user, then you should beware!
A Facebook scam/virus is roaming around our favorite social network. It’s particularly a scam offering you to click a link that promises you to know the people whose been viewing your profile. The status post usually says “OMG OMG OMG… I can’t believe this actually works! Now you really can see who viewed your profile! on [LINK]”.
And once you have clicked the link, it will take you further to a certain page which asks for your permission to allow the said application.
But I must warn you. There’s no such thing as knowing the people who viewed your profile. All this application does to you is that it deceives you into clicking the link! And once you have done so, these scammers will invade your Facebook account. They will access your private information, post in your wall, and even send you spam messages! These scammers will just ruin your social network life.
So before you fall into their trap, be cautious. Block these kinds of messages and report as SPAM.
But if you’ve been hit already, here’s what you need to do:
Go to your ACCOUNT and click “Privacy Settings” on your drop-down menu. Then under the “Applications and Websites” click “Edit your Settings”. Find the application you want to remove and click “Remove Application”. Be sure to confirm your action before going back to your Facebook home.
And always remember this: If you feel that the link is suspicious, don’t click it. Warn your friends instead.
