If you’re fond of surfing the web anywhere you are, then you must know that Opera and Safari have been ruling mobile internet as the most common browsers available. If you’re looking for something better, something you’re much used to, then welcome Firefox with a big hug. Mozilla will be releasing their renowned browser for mobile devices. The Firefox 4 Beta caters to Android and Maemo, with the same platform of technology as those of desktop computers.

Performance-wise, the new beta version is pretty stable. It has a quicker booting and page-loading time, along with improved pan/zoom responsiveness. Additional features such as the Firefox Sync and add-ons have been made available. Initially, the browser had been named “Fennec”, and the first beta has been launched on October 2010. As for iPhone and iPad users, they’d still have to bear on using Firefox Home iOS. It isn’t necessarily a browser, but more of an app that allows access to Firefox bookmarks and browsing history.

This new beta requires an ARMv7 processor to run, so it would only be available for Android 2.0 or higher. For the mean time, you can try out the beta version by using your Android Phone (same also for Maemo) and visit: mozilla.com/en-US/m/. For developers, you can test the Firefox mobile environment using their desktop build for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.
Don’t frown when you encounter bugs and slight mishaps, as the final version is yet to be released.
