Scams are everywhere especially nowadays that most people use the internet. And just recently even the most popular social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter have been used as instruments on these scams. Apparently, there were some Facebook and Twitter users complaining about a certain issue where their user accounts were being compromised and used to scam their friends by making a free iPad offer.

In the said scam, the scammers are resetting the passwords of some users and eventually use it by sending a message to the user’s friends encouraging them to check out a specific website that apparently give an iPad for free. The message actually leads to a link to better-gifts.net. This website will then ask for some personal information and directs the user to various promotional offers from well-known companies.
This type of scam seems to be very effective and doesn’t really appear to be a scam at first. That is why a lot of Facebook and Twitter users have been complaining to be a victim of such problem. The social networking scam started hitting Twitter users, but eventually it has also attacked Facebook users as well. However, some reports revealed that only a relatively few number of Facebook users have been affected.

If a message like this has been sent to your e-mail, please change your password immediately. In addition to that do not try to follow the link in such message no matter how attractive the offer is. Always remember that should never give your personal information to anyone especially when you are online.
In this day and age where majority of the people has been surfing the net, hackers and spammers are also working double time and waits for every opportunity to get their dirty jobs done. A lot of scams have been all over the net which aims to take personal information from people. And because most people are into those social networking sites, it is not surprising that these spammers are also thinking of a variety of ways to scam people in these social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
This scam appears to be very effective since it makes use of a message that looks like coming from a trusted source. So we must be very careful whenever we are online. Always make sure that all your personal information is well secured. Never give it to anyone unless you’re sure who are you dealing with. Be cautious and don’t be a victim.
