However, the competition for the set-top box market is getting high. And in order to keep up with the competition, a French ISP company has developed a unique kind of STB (set-top box).

Developed by France’s Free ISP and designed by the famous French designer, Philippe Starck, Freebox V6 Revolution aka “freebox” is a unique kind of set-top box that is loaded with a variety of features. Among the services that this device provides is internet access, cable channel streaming, stream gaming, and unlimited home calling. The company is also planning to feature mobile telephony sometime in 2012.

Aside from this, the device is equipped with 250GB Hard Drive Space, 802.11n WiFi connectivity, Blu-ray disc drive, built-in web browser, joystick, two power adapters and an Intel Atom CE4100 media processor. As for those who want to get one, the basic plan of Free’s STB costs around €29.99 per month. You can also pre-order the device for a price range of $59.99 to $119.99.

However, the exact date of release is yet to be revealed so stay tuned.
