Let’s talk about Froyo, Nexus 2 and everything nice!
Ever wonder why Google has been naming their OS version of Android with delicious foods? I don’t have any clue to be honest but I guess that’s because Google has been pampering their employees with nice food in the office that is why their OS is inspired by the food being served in the pantry.
To those who are clueless of what the hell I’m talking let me educate you a little bit here. Android OS is software from Open Handset Alliance (well Google bought it too actually, but that was before OHA did. It was originally developed by Android Inc.) but for what I know Google still owns stocks of Android that is why they’re still being branded with Android at the same time Google is the one responsible for its improvement & development.
That’ also the reason behind the Google applications loaded on an Android powered phone. The next version of Android OS will be named FROYO (Frozen Yogurt) as you may know Android has released names like Cupcake, Donuts & Éclair for their OS previously. Another explanation of why the OS are named after foods is because they want something that would interest the consumers (more of drool I guess) like kids getting all excited when they hear dessert!
So much for Froyo who would be Android’s 2.1 (oh..have I told you this maybe the Éclair’s updated/upgraded version?) let’s move on to Nexus 2 (also known as Motorola Shadow). Rumor has it that the Nexus 2 we are hearing about is one and the same with Motorola Shadow.
It’s somehow identical from Motorola Mirage the only difference is the keypad Shadow provides. I know is quite confusing now specially if you have been tuning in to this scope (Motorola Shadow/Mirage has been issued too to be just one phone)but now the clouds on your head should be cleared (Shadow and Mirage aren’t the same).
Motorola Shadow will be reinvented as I have mentioned, it will be infused with Android Froyo 2.1 So far there is no details of when this gadget will be released and where it will soon hit but don’t worry I have the full specs above anyway. See below for a quick video demo of Motorola Shadow.

This so looks like alot of fun
Just pointing something out, Android 2.1 = Eclair. Android 2.2 = Froyo. The stock android version on the Nexus One is 2.1 (aka Eclair). I’m sorry but the Nexus One started shipping Janurary 5th so you had time to check the version it shipped with. Also, fun little trivia, all the android versions are deserts in alphabetical order starting with C: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, (Possibly) Gelato, .. etc.
Sorry man, if you just check the specifications it becomes pretty obvious that it it just a false rumor. Just 1 small example, the nexus one has 512 MB RAM, and motorola shadow has 256 MB RAM..oooppppsss…someone did it again.
