Just days ago, Verizon admitted to a problem with its signal strength on the Galaxy Nexus and was getting to work on a solution. Now, an announcement has come up, and Verizon says that the issue is not really an issue. The company now blames a glitch in the signal bars, and says that its now working on a software update to fix this problem and adjust the signal indicator to match those of other Verizon devices.

These claims may raise a few eyebrows, especially those familiar with the iPhone 4 and the stunt pulled by Apple back in 2010 when it claimed that the lack of signal was to be blamed on the display of signal bars. Apple then released an update to iOS, but it only made the signal bars larger in the hopes of pleasing users, and didn’t actually fix the problem. That fiasco was never heard of again due to Apple giving out free bumper cases in hopes of addressing the problem of users holding the phone properly to get proper signal.
Verizon is claiming the same thing- it just displays poor reception when it’s actually getting good reception, or simply a software problem. Hopefully it’s not going to follow in Apple’s footsteps and deliver disappointment after disappointment only to release something that doesn’t fix the problem for good.
