Gmail is basically Google’s e-mail service that was known for being highly perceptive, efficient and useful. It has also more than 7 GB of storage, less spam and also offers mobile access as well. Because of all these features, it is not surprising at all why a lot of people turn to Gmail accounts for their e-mail needs. However, just recently there were some ongoing rumors that around 150,000 Gmail users have lost access to their inboxes. Apparently, some of these inboxes even contains messages that are already there for years, various attachments and Google chat logs as well.

Based on what we have heard, a certain bug has caused some Gmail accounts to reset thus, treating their owners as if they were new users. In addition to this, the owners of the said Gmail accounts also received a welcome message as well. Apparently, this bug affects only less than 0.08% of the whole Google Mail user database.
At present, Google engineers are trying to fix the said issue and try to get back all those missing messages, attachments and Google chat logs as soon as they can. And while Google is trying to fix the issue, affected users may be temporarily unable to sign in while the repair to the said accounts is ongoing. There is no available fix yet at the moment, but there were some reports that have revealed that the user accounts of certain users were already retrieve. However, the big question is whether Google will be able to succeed and restore all the missing accounts.

Google seems to be at ease with this issue since they are confident enough that their engineers will be able to help fix the issue and restore the messages as well. For now, while Google is trying to fix the situation, it would be advisable to back up your e-mail in order to protect it from this bug. Google representatives promised that their engineers are working quickly as possible in order to resolve this problem the soonest time possible.
