Gmail server error due to “back-up” ?

Posted on 02 September 2009 by pinoytutorial

It’s all over the news from bloomberg tv up to social blogging sites: Google’s e-mail service (Gmail.com) is having a problem with it’s “back-up” thus keeps producing an error when trying to logged in your account. On September 2, 2009 (4:00am – 5:00am ET) Philippine time.

I thought I was the only person in the Philippines having this log-in error in my gmail account for a usual routinary “checking of twitter followers”. It’s then I checked my twitter account and as usual a lot of tweet-ramblings are being chirped already. Some tones are “getting worried” other are just squeaks of “shallow-anger” all about the “glitch” gmail is facing.

On an official statement released by google this day:

Update (2:37 pm): We’ve fixed the issue, and Gmail should be back up and running as usual. We’re still investigating the root cause of this outage, and we’ll share more information soon. Thanks for bearing with us.

We know many of you are having trouble accessing Gmail right now — we are too, and we definitely feel your pain. We don’t usually post about minor issues here (the Apps status dashboard and the Gmail Help Center are usually where this kind of information goes). Because this is impacting so many of you, we wanted to let you know we’re currently looking into the issue and hope to have more info to share here shortly. If you have IMAP or POP set up already, you should be able to access your mail that way in the meantime. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and will get Gmail back up and running as soon as possible.

It seems that the source of the problem isn’t fully disclosed by google, though the whole web-community is waiting for the complete update of google about this “back-up” issue.

Little Conspiracies

I was working my way to find some “theories” behind the sudden server error of gmail and to my surprise there’s a “Bing Sabotage” conspiracy going on! Lols!

On some posts made by other bloggers, they experienced a “redirection” to bing.com when they log-in to their gmail account, the same time gmail experienced error.

Could this be a coincidence? Well, I don’t know. Let’s just hear what BIG G has to say.

Food for thought: Millions of people are using Gmail for simple snail-messaging up to formal business proposal. Due to the gmail outage,  the term “gmail down” is volcanic hot! based on google trends

Yet another proof on how important google has become to the lives of millions of internet users.
