This may not be the first time that you may have heard of the Google + 1 button. It has been the subject of many sites for quite some time now since this Google product has obviously raised a lot of questions that have not been addressed in its official announcement. Well, for those who do not have any idea of what the Google + 1 button is, then this is a feature that is similar in nature with the “like” button on Facebook, but the only difference is that this feature is seen on search results.

Google aims to make the Google +1 feature to be an attractive option to publishers out there in order to gain more traffic. It originally debuted in March, but goes live for various websites just recently. This feature is really a cool one since it is a great way to share recommendations from all over the world.
The good thing about the Google +1 button is that it can be installed quickly.
All you need to do is simple follow these simple steps:
1. Add a line of javascript to your theme files. However, if you are using WordPress, then you must add snippet to their theme files.
2. Add a button to your sidebar. Paste the <g:plusone></g:plusone><g:plusone></g:plusone>, wherever you want to place the button.
3. Configure the button size and include other advanced options using the +1 button.

With the Google + 1 button recommending things such as a new raincoat, news article, movie or the like is now much easier. And for webmasters who would like to pop the +1 button on their web page, Google has also created an easy-to-use web tool that allows users to pick from a number of size and style options so that +1 button matches the look of the site itself. Once the designed is chosen, the publisher can simply copy the automated javascript code and paste it to their site.
Google hopes that more websites will be attracted to use the Google +1 button as it promises higher page rankings as an incentive. So let us just wait and see if the Google +1 button will be as popular as the Facebook “like” button or not.
