Google Art Project: Street View For Museums — How To Guide

Google is indeed of the most popular search engine giant that we have nowadays. And for the past 18 months now there were some rumors that Google is coming out with something new for its consumers especially for those who love art. Google recognizes the fact that not every art lover has the chance to travel around the world in order to visit the world’s greatest museums and see the finest art pieces that we have all around the world. And to give these art lovers a chance to see these art pieces, they have thought of coming out with a project that they have called the Google Art Project.

In one of Google’s blog, Amit Sood has announced the launching of the so-called Google Art Project, which has managed to bring 17 art museums all around the world that aims to offer those art lovers out a chance to tour in their internal art galleries by using its familiar Street View tricycles. Some of the museums in this Google Art Project include The Metropolitan Museum of Art and MoMA in New York, The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Tate Britain and The National Gallery in London, Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

Through this Google Art Project, user will have a chance to navigate through all these museums and be able to take a look at more than 1,000 works of art that was made by more than 400 artists all around the world. In this project, Google also included an annotation feature that allows its users to toggle between the museums interior as well as a specific work of art as well. In addition to this, the Google Art Project also comes with info panels and You Tube videos as well.

This Google Art Project also comes with a gigapixel photo-capturing technology that allows its users to linger in front of the art pieces that you like. You can also create your own art collection as well and save the pieces of art that you have viewed.
