If you’ve happened to Google something today, you’ve probably seen it—the Google cake. Now, maybe it’s time for party, because it’s Google’s 12th birthday! And this time it’s for real.
For many years, it has been a mystery when the exact birthday of Google is. They sometimes celebrate September 7 before, while its domain was listed September 15, 1997. But whenever they would want to celebrate their birthday is out of our businesses, people. What matters is that for 12 years, Google has given us service so incredible and nearly impeccable—probably that is the reason why they reached 12 years in the first place.
The cake, which replaced the regular logo today, is the “doodle” logo. It is painted by Pop art movement American artist Wayne Thiebaud, the guy made famous by his everyday object paintings such as—cakes!
As Google face its teenage years, surely it is gearing up for the better. This year, “Caffeine,” Google’s supposed to be faster and fresher search results and “Google Instant” is being launched.
Since its birth and its coming to adolescent stage, Google has proved its capacity to provide good service to all of us Internet fanatics. But with more companies in its field coming and becoming as famous as Google, it may need to face greater challenges—just like any normal teen would.
