I was surprised but not that flabbergasted with that recent report about those unmanned Google cars strolling for 140k miles on whatever part of the world, Google decides it to be. It is something that’s really expected for a company like Google. One should realize that it’s really not efficient and economical for two-person to drive something just for the sake of taking pictures and have it uploaded on the Google Streetview database. Big G really managed to be an ultramodern model for innovation in these set of futuristic vehicles.

But the question remains, did Google really want to reveal this project had New York Times and other tech-pundits didn’t spot these cars in the first place? I guess this is the perfect time to realize that Google isn’t just the normal searching company other joes thought it really is. We have covered dozen of ridiculous yet possible reports about how Google are doing something ‘really evil’ in their courtyard. Perhaps this is the time to have a break and analyze what this company is really up to on our lives.
From a technical view, the technology infused to those Google cars are very advance. So advance that Google wouldn’t want to reveal this project unless someone will notice it and publicized it on the news. Actually, the latest vehicles with that kind of motion detecting sensor are only being used for military purposes. This is the reason why Google needs to re-modify Toyota Prius and set of Audi TT and hire the best engineers from DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) for this venture. Take note this is the agency that you may want to check if you want to know more about the US defense and research projects.

That brings the question, why Google and DARPA are working together so silently?
Come to think of it, Google’s main objective is, “it wants to know more about you”. That’s why it is spending billions of profits just to improve its already great searching capability. However, isn’t the military’s primary objective is to push their intel to the limits and know more about the identity of their targets as well?
Right now, perhaps it’s still too early to create some assumptions. But I wouldn’t be surprised one day to see our future military devices with a Google logo on its side. Just in case that happens, you know how it all began.
