Just like what we predicted, Chrome Netbook would still have a release date on 2011 eventhough it was announced yesterday at the Chrome Event. But as you can see, everything seems to be going on a turmoil if this device would be good contender against other laptops / macbooks lying around.

Recently, Google named this device as the CR-48 Chrome Notebook, so it’s consider as a laptop alright but it would be living under Google’s cloud-based network. Meaning, all your storage (theoretically) would utilize internet connection. Last year, this was previewed to run under 10 seconds of boot-up, won’t have any BIOS, etc. Today, it was also revealed that the CR-48 would use 12-inch LCD display, WiFi / 3G support via Verizon, full QWERTY keyboard (sans caps lock and function keys), enlarged touchpad, weighs 3.8 pounds only, it still has an internal SSD (capacity yet to be revealed) and eight hours of battery.
Obviously, Google has a lot of work to do if they are deciding to unleash this notebook towards the market. For the meantime, you can only apply for this laptop here, or create a youtube video of why you’re eligible of getting the chrome laptop. Rest assured, many enthusiasts are clapping their hands now!
