Google’s history started with the search engine named after itself. Thereafter, the company added other businesses through a number of acquisitions and expansions. Today, Google is known for its diverse business interests, such as, the search engine, gmail, Google Earth, Chrome and the mobile software Android.
Obviously, Google has not yet entered the hardware industry. For example, Google creates the Android software but lets device manufacturers use the software in their hardware. However, if the reports are true, it seems Google is about to change that system. Rumors say that Google will be creating a Home Entertainment System and, in the process, manufacture its own hardware and release the same under the Google brand. The Google home entertainment system is said to function by streaming music wirelessly inside the home using wifi and Bluetooth connectivity. The entertainment system can also be controlled using smartphones or tablets and the music can be played on speakers manufactured by Google.
There is scarce information to verify the truth of this information. However, observers noted recent developments in Google may actually confirm his business move. For example, it was reported that Google filed with the FCC a “mystery” entertainment device. Another development is the reported plan of the company to acquire Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc.
Controlling both the software and the hardware is a tested formula for success, as proven by Apple. Further, engaging the waters of the home entertainment system may be a sensible move for Google considering the rich industry of the home audio software.
The reports also said that the release of the Google home entertainment system will be later this year. If the rumors are true, it won’t be long before we can hear another development on this matter.
