Android users may have just found another reason to stick to their phones. An update on Google Maps has just been made available with more social features to keep its users tuned in than ever. With the latest Google Maps version 5.2. users will be able to gain access to 3 new additions, the Hotpot, Latitude pinging, and Navigation.

The Hotpot is a Google product that has already been launched last year to provide users a quicker and more convenient access to restaurant locations and reviews. Now, Hotpot’s access is made more convenient as well since Google Maps version 5.2 users can now tweet their own reviews and recommendations to their Hotpot friends.
The next feature is the Latitude pinging, which will enable the user to send a message to a certain Latitude friend who is just nearby. This adds to the now diverse methods of communicating such as texting or calling. Here’e how it works: Your Android device sends your friends a notification asking them if they would like to check in at a certain place. When your friends fulfill the request, a notification will also be sent to you so you would know where to check in and find them. Cool huh? Meetings just got a little edgier.

Lastly, the new version’s users can use the “Search More Places” link aside to gain access aside from the standard list of places available. This will be a lot helpful in very populated areas where establishements can be on top of another.
These three features definitely add pizzazz to what has seemed to be an effective but simple tool. Google Maps has made itslef more available to the growing followers of social networks and applications.
Starting now, you can go to the Android Market to update to Google Maps v5.2.
