Before, if a person needs to ask for directions they usually do it by asking strangers on the street. But the existence of online applications such as the Google map has made it easier for someone to get directions in going to a place or establishment. Google Map has been helping a lot of people in searching directions towards various places and is now coming with a fresh new look as it comes out with an Android version of the said application that comes with a handful of new and exciting features.
The Android version of the Google Maps application comes additionally with the all-new Walking Navigation feature, an improved version of the Street View Smart Navigation and the new Google Maps Search Bar.
The new Walking Navigation feature is basically a combination of turn-by-turn GPS navigation, satellite imagery and walking directions. Through this feature, you may now get more accurate directions while walking along sidewalks, overpass, and pedestrian pathways. This feature also enables your phone to vibrate when you need to make a turn. Amazingly, the map also rotates with you as you turn your phone into different directions. Your phone will also function like a virtual compass with satellite imagery to look ahead for landmarks as you go along the way with this feature.
Aside from the Walking Navigation feature, the new Google Map will also come with an improved Street View Smart Navigation feature. With this feature, you can quickly navigate Street View by just dragging the Pegman from one corner while highlighting with a lightly shaded pancake the road where you are headed to. This feature obviously makes the Street View easier and faster to use. However, you will need to download an update for the “Street View on Google Maps” app from the Android market separately from Google Maps to enjoy this feature.
Lastly, the Android version of the Google Maps application also comes with a new Google Maps Search bar located at the top of the screen that will make it more accessible. After entering your query, you can easily open Places and find your current location. With this feature, users can easily view the ratings of establishments, goods offered with their corresponding prices, and cross streets in order to locate places they are searching for easily.
The Google Maps for mobile is available on all Android smartphones running with the Android 1.6 OS and higher. If you want to enjoy these new features offered by Google Map, all you have to do is get the latest version of both the Google Maps and Street View on Google Map application from the Android Market.
