When you say a product is going to suck, it means a lot of different things. Last time, we’ve covered a lengthy post about the top reason why the new Google Nexus Two phone is going to suck should Google and Samsung pushed this device under the skin of a redesigned Samsung Galaxy S phone. And here’s the reason why.
For starters, let’s go back to last year, particularly in the month of December when the first visible leak of Nexus One was revealed. At that time, the only good android phone which you can say an iPhone 3GS Killer was the newly christened Motorola Droid 1, although even that the slider-phone was amazing, a lot of consumers are still wanting to see an iPhone-competitor which looks like it in a subtle way boasting with far more superior specifications than the former. At that time, the timing of Nexus One was perfect and it was first leaked exclusively over a tweet and a twitpic image touting all of its gems inside like: 1GHZ Snapdragon Processor (the fastest at that time), 5MP camera (better than iPhone 3GS), Crystal clear AMOLED screen, super thin form factor and it will be available for the whole world (unlocked device). Just a mere thought of that phone brought excitement towards the whole consumer and it even manage to silence the impending iPad onslaught (iSlate at that time) which was revealed just a month after Nexus One.

Long story short, Nexus One’s first coming was totally amazing, the right timing and its specifications really stabbed the iPhone 3GS. Now, let’s compare the ‘rumored’ Nexus Two phone.

It was only revealed on a news website (October 27, 2010) and it was rumored to be launch on Nov 8 or 11 exclusively on carphone warehouse then on T-mobile. Its ‘killer features’ are: 1.2GHz processor, Android Gingerbread and it will use the form factor of Samsung Galaxy S.
You may say it’s not a bad phone. Yes it is! if we’re merely talking about ‘a yet another Samsung Phone’ but for it to be called as the second coming of Nexus One is plain dumb and too ridiculous. Why?
Fail 1, because those specifications are not better than the iPhone 4, heck! Even some of the android phones today already possess that kind of specs except for the gingerbread which is obviously going to be available as an OTA update for Eclair androids soon.
Fail 2, the whole marketing strategy is banal and at this point, no one is interested to get it as much as the iPhone 4 or other fleet of Android phones. Why? Because two weeks of rumor-mill isn’t enough to create a buzz towards your device. Unlike Nexus One which took two months before it was finally revealed on January 5 and iPhone series which normally takes at least 6 months of rumors before its next-generation arrives, the Nexus two is like a half-baked phone going to appear out from nowhere like a mushroom should it decided to be announced on the second week of November.
Fail 3, it will use a Samsung device as a basis of its form-factor. Probably you might say that this is a personal experience but if you will read the impression of other critics for Samsung Phones (especially the Galaxy S series) it’s the type of phone that wouldn’t last for a year. This is my biggest fear for this Nexus Two device if Google is really serious on adapting the Galaxy S series as a prototype.
Fail 4, It used the word “Nexus” brand. Just in case you haven’t observed, one of the best way to market a phone is if you will build a brand from scratch and impress the people on its first launch. HTC has done it through its HD series, RIM has done it with the Blackberry phones, Obviously, Apple has the iPhone brand since 2007 and while Google seems to appear the youngest of ‘em all, its Nexus One brand manage to tickle the fantasy of consumers giving the impression that it’s one of the best android phones. That was a great start! Now, if there will be a real Google Nexus Two and its specs, features are just like that then you can say bye-bye to the franchise of ‘Nexus’ for good. Long story short, this is how Google will kill the Nexus series if it will try to release a mediocre phone using the same title.
Wrap-up:
I am really hoping Google Nexus Two is just a rumor-mill built only to excite people and it will never appear like the leaks we’re seeing now. For the sake of fans and the Nexus franchise, if ever there will be another series that will use its title, it should better be good. Come to think of it, Nexus One was touted as the superphone of Google, obviously consumers are expecting something more out from it if there will be a second generation. And if the Samsung Nexus Two is the only thing G can give, then this phone will totally, beyond the doubt —suck.

This has got to be the best topic regarding the nexus s/two phone which in my honest opinion will be a bucket of fail if it’s a samsung galaxy s phone.
come on google you can do much better than this, I rather spend money on another nexus one phone than buy any samsung plastic toy. You better be pulling our tail on this one google!
I just lost my nexus one on a drunken adventure and will probably be buying it on ebay since no other phone can compare to it. no I don’t want that crappy G2 with that crappy keyboard, no I do not want the epic4g or evo or mytouch4g with that gay genius buttom.
I want a real phone made by google which can beat the old nexus phone or nothing!
Thank you
