And yes! the Google geek-lab finally had a speaker to at least confirm if a new Google Phone is for a fact and not fictional. The only problem here is, Mr. Mario Queroz (VP- Product Management Google) didn’t include any of the details users are ‘dying’ to hear. One of them is, where is the specs? Pictures? What Carrier will it be using? Will it run another milestone of dominating crusade against the iPhone brigade? Only these statement surfaced.
We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it.
Whimsically, Queroz used the tech-meme ‘dogfooding’ to undisclose more of the ‘hidden’ details about the conceptual-phone BIG G’s mobile lab is cooking. Here’s the excerpt:
Unfortunately, because dogfooding is a process exclusively for Google employees, we cannot share specific product details. We hope to share more after our dogfood diet.
FYI: For our dear-viewers who aren’t familiar with the term ‘dog-fooding’ – It’s is when a company uses the products that it makes. Dogfooding can be a way for a company to demonstrate confidence in its own products, and hence a kind of testimonial advertising.
Well at least this routinary guillotine of giving the people the benefit of the doubt yields some accidental-confirmation.
That the phone will be built like a HTC HD2 / HTC Passion or a mix of both design with some added sauce from Google.
For the carrier issue: It will only be sold to a single carrier, one is T-mobile though the lurking of the AT&T-kind is impending and one can’t deny the fact that ATT might grab-this one for their iPhone-bubble dynasty will soon pop-out on 2010.
And obviously, it will run on the latest Android version, whatever is the newest on January, 2010. (closest will be android 2.1)
According to Eric Shconfeld@Techcrunch:
They have an intel that confirms, the Google conceptual phone will run on a Snapdragon chip (much like HTC HD2), ‘super’ high-resolution OLED touchscreen, is thinner than the iPhone, has no keyboard, and two mics. And has a ‘speech-recog’ type of software that enables a person to text using voice, ah for those lazy-people who don’t like to use a virtual keyboard.
And so the plot-thickens with this Google’s secret mobile device. We’ll keep you ‘Goog-lovers’ posted!
