If you’re an Internet Marketer and your bread and butter are CMS type of websites, you know that ranking on a profitable niche is everything for you. And while Google is now tormenting most “aggregators” and “content farmers” with its series of Google Panda updates, a real IM knows its just a part of the transition you should adapt with.
Following these changes comes the birth of Google+1 and Google Plus. Coming from an SEO perspective, there’s a lot more than meets the eye for these two services. Likewise, we still haven’t seen the real effects of Google+1 if it will help you get higher rankings on Google contrary to those rumors that “the more Google+1 clicks you get, the more you can dominate the SERP” which basically defeats the purpose of an improved and personalized search algorithm.
In the case of Google+, the case is quite weird. You see, unlike Facebook in which when a page you create gets indexed by Google, it will rank on the SERP in just a matter of hours. However, for Google Plus, all the accounts aren’t indexed by its crawlers regardless if you set your privacy into public or private.
Well, TC has an article for this which talks about Google+ Product VP Bradley Horowitz reaction. When asked if there’ll be a search feature for G+, he replied “Thanks for the great suggestion! ” because seriously what idiot thinks that search wasn’t the first thing Google thought of here?”.
Later on, here’s the meat of his reply. “We’re in limited field trial… and making changes on a daily basis. Agree that we’re quickly accumulating enough data that search would be extremely useful. I don’t have an ETA on this feature, but agree it’s a great suggestion”.
There you have it, right from the horse’s mouth! Naturally, as a search company, Google wants to introduce the best type of search capability for its budding social-network and this one may take some time. For all we know, the service is still on beta, hopefully we’ll see this feature coincide on or before its official public launch this year.
For the meantime, you can simply type “site:plus.google.com [sample search query]” on Google.com the next time you want to search buddies on your circles or visit googleplussearchengine.com.
