There’s something really good when you hear about an update, what’s more soothing to the ears is when that innovation came from a gargantuan company. It appears today, those fascination came to exist as google unveils their latest conception about Google search. Let’s just say BIG G is planning to make your realtime search even more realtime. So how does Google ‘geeks’ plan to do this? Voila! By mixing streams of social-media to the Google-search mix.
Techcrunch (A highly popular industry tech-blog) is there on the scene to give the whole blogosphere some realtime updates about the construction of this masterpiece. On a nutshell, the G’s development team will be focusing on the shifting of search era from desktop to mobilephones. They provided 5 significant key-points to improve the search mechanics.
On the flip side, there’s media. Our search results have to mirror that same richness. The next piece is language. At Google we’re trying to break the language barrier. This focus on language and translation. We really foresee a world in the future where you can search and look at content through any language.Personalization: Search will become increasingly personalized to show results relevant to you. There’s a fifth component to the future of search: the rate of progress. We like to launch early and often.
Some of the delegates who attended the said meeting were one of the Big Guns of the ‘techdustry’. One is Myspace’s New CEO (Owen Van Natta) and other representatives from different social-media like Twitter and Facebook were also there.
Let this video be an enlightenment on how does Google plan to add social-media on the SERP (Search engine result page) Sounds, like it will be ‘too crowded’ for the netizens… No? Watch this.
Too minuscule? Here’s an enlarge screenshot:
Impressive… As you can see, there’s a tweet about a search query on ‘season finale’.
The only caveat here is, Privacy and Spam issues. Although Google assured that social-media users (e.g Facebook) can set if they want to let their profile-updates be crawled by google-robots or not, there’s still some ‘nook and crannies’ that were obviously not talked in the presentation.
Let’s say for example:
How will the social-streams be included to the google search? How related are the social-updates to the result of the searches? Will the users have the ability to only see streams from one social network at a time (e.g Facebook only?)
And for blackhatters, I’m sure they will be all ears to know how to exploit these new features. Obviously, there’s some sort of “ranking” for a certain stream of media (ex. tweet) to be included on the new search result, right? Remember, thousands of BH’s are ‘dying’ just to get a traffic on their website, and with this newly planned feature of Google, it’s perceptible that they will do all they can to hack this and spam it if necessary.
The last thing a user wants is to see a useless ‘tweet’ returned from their Google search.. agree?
Seeing how BIG G will bullproof this release from any related-exploitation should be highly interesting. All the while google should be fast on the development of this chef-d’oeuvre, for Bing is also planning to implement this on their future searches.
Ah, you just got to love the spirit of competition, sometimes…
