Microsoft has been working with the first service pack for its highly supported OS Windows 7. Just recently, Microsoft has officially announced the arrival of its first beta version for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Server 2008 R2. The announcement was made during the Worldwide Partner Conference which was held in Washington.

Even before this announcement some information has leaked already into the internet regarding the SP1 release late last year. According to these rumors Microsoft is set to unveil a much quicker SP1 which is believed to be better that what they did with the Vista.
It has been always recommended to install service packs. Although, Windows 7 SP 1 is not coming with any major changes, it has been improved to fix some issues and bugs found in Windows 7.
Basically, the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Server 2008 R2 Beta is great for keeping your servers as well as your PCs well supported and updated. It also provides continuous improvement to your Windows Operating System by bringing the latest updates available on the Windows 7 platform. The said update pack will be available in major languages such as English, French, German, Japanese as well as Spanish.
To download and install the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, all you have to do is simply follow these easy steps:
- First, make sure that you have a RTM version of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 installed in your PC
- The Windows 7 SP 1 comes as an ISO package, you may prefer to extract it through WinRAR or have it burned into a DVD.
- After extracting, double click the file setup.exe. It is well recommended that you have save your work before starting the installation process because a reboot may be required during the set up process.
- Click next then accept the license terms
- At this point the system will prepare your computer for installation of Windows 7 SP1. This might take a few minutes.
- During this next step you may prefer to reboot your computer either manually or automatically, then click install
- Set up will now create a system restore point in case you want to revert back
- Installation will now start. Just wait for a few minutes until it’s completed.
- Once the installation procedure is finished, you will get a confirmation that SP1 is successfully installed.
- To check if it is already installed, you may open the system properties and look for SP1
Installation is as easy as that. Microsoft announced that the final version of the Windows 7 SP 1 will be made available in the first half of 2011. They might still be polishing some features based on the feedback they got on their pre-release version.
