One of its great features is its drawing capabilities. Some artists have discovered the iPad to be a reliable partner in their profession. Hobbyist and those other people who love to draw might also find the iPad to be a very good tool for their drawing activities.

The iPad comes with a Brushes and Sketchbook Pro application. Both of these apps are also present on the iPod and iPhone but it looks even better with the iPad since the size of its screen is closer to that of a sketchbook.

The Brushes application is a little more spontaneous and easier to use, it has color sampling, add photo and playback features. While on the other hand, Sketchbook Pro is more detailed and offers more control of the brush. It has a brush control function, deep zoom, draw styles for creating straight line, rectangles and circles and the option to save files as Photoshop document.

The iPad also comes with a pogo stylus for drawing. It is a special capacitative stylus with tips that expands like a brush when you press it down. This stylus will give the artists the feel of a real drawing. Stylus producer Ten One Design, which is known for their pogo stylus, made some demonstration on an app that would allow iOS devices like the iPad to respond to pen pressure. Ten One Design intends to launch the pressure-sensitivity as a free software library worldwide which can be used in any application in any iOS device such as the iPad.

With these iPad applications, we can say that the future for art on the iPad is very promising. Hopefully with the Brushes and Sketchbook Pro on iPad, it will encourage more artists to draw or sketch more often.

The iPad does not come with the Pogo Sketch stylus, nor is there an actual pressure-sensitive stylus. The iPad contains code that can be utilized by developers to recognize different levels of pressure, thus the iPad itself is pressure-sensitive. The stylus is essentially just a brush and can’t detect any pressure.
