It took us by surprise when HP bought Palm for a 1.2 billion dollar deal.. According to HP, Palm will become a part of its Personal Systems Group, led by Jon Rubinstein, who is expected to stay along with most of the rest of the senior team  after HP vowed they were going to retain almost everything about Palm, Inc.

Palm refers to the makers of computer operating system that provides a software platform for the Palm series of handheld personal digital assistants. Personal digital assistants are light, hand-held computer device essential in performing a series of arithmetic or logical operations.

While HP is one of the world’s largest computer and electronics companies which was founded in 1939 by William Hewlett and David Packard.  Known for its LaserJet and DeskJet printers, it produces more than 10,000 different products, ranging from computer systems to specialized electronic devices. HP is a gigantic player in the industry but has no presence when it comes to acquiring mobile space.

In this regard, the merger has yet to prove itself. And now comes the fruit of this move, the WebOS HP Hurricane Tablet which could be released October this year.

A WebOS, short for Web Operating System, describe network services for internet scale distributed computing consisting of multiple autonomous computers that communicate through a computer network. In this line, HP wants to take this WebOS to places it has never been there before but the company remains to be silent whether this WebOS is being slated for Q3.

Despite HP’s silence, HP Taiwan’s Vice President Monty Wong has confirmed a webOS-powered tablet is due out in the market before the fiscal year ending in October after the Palm acquisition will be completed in July. But all these things are just hear-say. Meaning, it isn’t official yet. So why is HP keeping mum in all these? Are they going to launch this product or what? HP, we’re waiting!
