With the Domination of the iPad still solidly locked in place, it’s a wonder that a tablet rival like the HP Slate 500 can be sold out in a matter of a month after its release to the wilds.

Anyway, here’s a quick rundown of the official specs from the HP page:
- Intel Atom Z540 Processor (1.86 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB)
- Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 32 bit
- 8.9-inch diagonal WSVGA HP Touchscreen (1024 x 600 or 1024 x 768 for some applications)
- 2GB DDR2 667MHz on board memory
- 64 GB Solid State Module (SSM)
- VGA webcam (Front)
- 3MP camera (Back)
- Integrated 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN
- HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
- HP 2-cell, 30 WHr polymer
- Limited 1 year standard parts and labor warranty 1/1/0
HP has printed on their webpage that because of its popularity, it has now sold out with current stocks too depleted to meet the clamoring demand of the frenzied public. Over exaggeration aside, it seems that HP has sold out their stock and they are currently in backorder with a 6 week wait for the next shipment to arrive. That means that by the end of December, people should be able to get their HP Slate 500.
Current news from leaks reports that HP only made 5,000 units, but there was an order for 9,000 units. So demand defeated supply and thus the shortage.
It wasn’t an over exaggeration after all.
