It’s still not officially launched but people can’t wait anymore to take hold of the EVO and get their hand on rooting this device. The Sprint network’s HTC EVO 4G is expected to have its public debut this June 4. But with bright people already taking hold of this even before it is launched it’s not surprising that they were already able to find out ways on how to make this already powerful device somewhat more powerful.
EVO 4G phones were given to almost five thousand attendees of the Google I/O conference whom mostly are developers. Rumors then spread saying that some were able to found a way on how to replace the default Android 2.1 operating system and HTC’s Sense User Interface with the latest version of the Android operating system, the Android 2.2 “Froyo”. The people from XDA-dev were the ones to successfully install Android 2.2 ROM on EVO 4G and had posted videos.
The EVO is one heck of a device with a 4.3 inch TFT touch screen, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and 512 MB RAM. The Android 2.2 would surely provide users greater advantages over the Sense UI with Android 2.1. It will be including Flash 10.1, native internet tethering and an application manager and is expected to be 2 to 5 times faster than Android 2.1. But for now, there are no words confirming about which functionalities are missing and which ones are working well.
As of now, there are still no available steps for rooting EVO 4G or even porting Android 2.2 OS. So it will not be likely that you will be able to root your Sprint HTC EVO 4G on its launch day. Although at XDA, there are already available modes and themes waiting or the EVO to get root. And surely, once the “how to root” is out, developers will easy be able to begin porting Android 2.2 to the EVO which would be a great benefit since users don’t have to wait anymore for official update to try Android’s latest flavors.
And now, what EVO fans can do is wait when the complete flash porting process is out as well as the official launch of Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G to the public.

I’ve seen Flash run on the EVO. To sum things up, Adobe still could not get their sh!t to work well on a mobile device. The EVO does have a fast browser…when NOT using Flash. The EVO’s battery life is piss poor and having Flash in it will only make it worse.
