Posted on 09 October 2010 by pinoytutorial

Windows Phone 7 is a remarkable mobile OS with a functional UI and features that make the finickiest touch smartphone user swoon with delight. The things is, Microsoft announced that their newly released mobile OS will only be available for the newer batches of smartphones that have been recently released since WinMo 6.5 phones will not be upgraded to WinPhone7. Their reason is that a specific design for WinPhones7, which are the search, back, and Windows key.

But what do we have here? What’s this video showing us?

That is a minute and a half long booting sequence of Windows Phone 7 on a WinMo 6.5 HTC HD2 smartphone. This video proof of what appears to be the beginning stages of the hacked OS being ported to the HD2 is bought to you by one CottulaCode via twitter. And before anyone asks, they said, this is just the beginning stage and no official release has been made. Don’t bother them about it so they can work on it. Period.

Although the video doesn’t show any additional footage of actual working features on the HTC HD2 it makes a pretty compelling case that WinPhone7 can be hacked to hardware capable WinMo 6.5 smartphones without the designed keys.
