You must have been eavesdropping why HTC launched a lousy phone and yet they named it smart. Maybe it does make sense when you get to hear the real deal of why HTC came up with this not so smart phone.
HTC came up with this phone because they have a game plan, the reason is a different consumer market. This is HTC’s way to have other folks (those who are not so techie and savvy as us) get started. It’s like having your granny learn to use a computer and since you know she wouldn’t be so aware of the speed and you’re cutting cost (you’re the one paying for her internet) you give her a desktop and a dial-up internet connection to start with and when she gets used to it that’s the time you switch her to a DSL or Broadband. This is basically the same jist as what HTC wants to happen, they want to target those people who doesn’t even know that Smartphones and multi-touchscreen already exist and that mobile phone aren’t just made for calling but now it’s an all purpose gadget made to provide you with various means of communication.
HTC launched HTC Smart to introduce the very basic (a not so complicated phone, since you wouldn’t want granny to be culture shocked) of what a Smartphone can offer, and for newbies to get the drift of Sense UI (instead of settling with a different brand of phone right?) HTC Smart is injected with Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform.
I know this will not pass your standard and I know you’re eyes can’t believe in what it’s seeing now but haven’t I told you in the beginning that this phone is not meant for the mainstream market? Okay so let me proceed with other technical specs of this smartphone, it will also be equipped with 256MB of RAM, 3 megapixel camera, 3G with quadband EDGE and of course Sense UI. Though this is not your typical Smartphone you would be amazed that it’s not so bad after all!
The navigation thru the screen is pretty fast and it has all the basic stuff granny or gramps would need to learn about internet, email and Twitter. The catch is that it only flaunts a 2.8 inch screen that may not be so comfy to use knowing that this is a Touchscreen phone (so your good old folk might just not like the whole idea of getting in touch) and that the qwerty pad will be sharing the 2.8 inch, ouch! FYI: this phone will be launched in Asia and Europe and no price tag unveiled yet. Check out the HTC Smart video introduction below.
