If you’re thinking that InSync is the popular 90’s boy band which made Justin Timberlake a pop icon, it’s not. Funny as it may sound (maybe because they’re homonyms!); it is actually a new cloud service giving DropBox a run for its money.

Having been in beta development for almost 15 months, this new cloud-based file-syncing service was released last Friday. InSync basically offers what a cloud service would do as it allows users to save, share and sync files between computers. Its backbone is what makes the difference as it utilizes the Google Docs platform.
Initial feedback on the service made some users question its security as the company’s website has little information on how their service works. InSync however pointed that they don’t save passwords of users instead what they save is the token (links the service to Google docs and can be revoked any time by the user/customer).
InSync though doesn’t have an iOS app compared to DropBox but it can be used on an iOS device (i.e. iPad) provided that you use it consonance with Google Doc’s tablet compatible site on Safari.
As for the price of service, InSync charges $0.25 per GB/year compared to DropBox’s $2.00 (the company stresses that Google’s $50/year for 200GB of storage in comparison to DropBox’s annual cost of $240 for 100GB is way better and much more price-friendly).
