With Apple recently launching its iPad 2, Redpark wasted no time in releasing its Console Cable (C2-RJ45). Basically, the Console Cable has a 30-pin Apple connector present on one end and RJ-45 plug on the other end.

The Console Cable comes in very handy and helpful for the iPad. Why? Because it will enable Cisco field engineers to perform functions such as router maintenance, troubleshooting and disaster recovery operations via the Cisco port. All of this dirty work will be done by the field engineer using only his iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. There’s a bit of a catch however, iPad owner/user needs to install the Get Console app (this app sells for about $9.99 on iTunes) as the Console Cable is not compatible with any other applications at present.
Interestingly though, there’s word that a possibility for creating a full Ethernet cable out of the current Console Cable can be done. A little bit of tweaking and creativity may be necessary to maximize the potential being presented by the Console cable.
Just imagine having with you a handy cable that will help you connect to a network when you’re having difficulty accessing and connecting to WiFi. For those interested, Redpark’s Console Cable retails for about $69.
