After the official revelation of Android 2.3 on our realm, we were sure that it wouldn’t take long for our developers to install this OS on their personal choice of smartphones. Just a couple of weeks ago, we have seen this one being hacked to run smoothly on a HTC HD2 device, not to mention this Nokia N900 infused with an Android 2.3 looks promising as well.

Anyway, for those who are wondering if there are any developers who are willing to try and install this new platform to an iPhone, I bet this story would perk your senses up. Coming from the blogosphere, this guy had managed to upload a video of what it appears to be his courageous feat on successfully hacking on an iPhone 3G and run Android Gingerbread (2.3) on the device.
Check out the video.
Interestingly, this project is based from iDroid hack enabling developers to install a rogue Android platform on a 3rd party smartphone and they can easily return to its original OS state (in this case, it would be the iPhone OS) after a restart of the unit, since this hack lies on a dual-boot configuration.
Looking at the past, I have a feeling it wouldn’t take too long before Gingerbread gets rooted to run on an iPhone 3GS considering the timeframe for this hack jumping from A to B happened under a month!
