iPhone 4 Press Conference Review: Summary and Solution for your iPhone 4

Posted on 17 July 2010 by author

Amidst all the problems of how the Cupertino’s new ‘legendary’ device are facing, Steve Jobs is now going in for an official press conference today to answer this issue. And I am telling you, this may not look that ‘serious’ to some, but for other’s, this is a matter of life and death situation! So here it goes.

Introduction: Comparison of the Problem

Steve Jobs seems to be straightforward with the issue and just after a couple of minutes of highlighting the success of the iPhone 4 – Now sold for 3 million in just 3 weeks. He then starts to enumerate to the entire audience that, “all phone’s aren’t perfect”. He released some samples about past phones with ‘antenna’ issues, Starting from the BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris and Samsung Omnia II.

“We knew that you could see bars drop on the phone when you hold it in a certain way, it’s a fact, phones aren’t perfect. But people are reporting better reception with this antenna than they’ve ever seen before.”

As Jobs points out, Apple has not yet find its way to get around with the laws of physics yet, but with its technology, they’re hoping to get with it on the future.

How they’re dealing with it? State of the art Apple test-rooms facilities that ensures these problems would be solved. ASAP.

The Reality Of the Problem: How many people are really affected?

This is really an interesting debate. Because if you’re like me, who’s getting a bit tired of all the tech-blogs around, having this report about that ‘iphone 4 problems’ over and over again. At first glance, you would thought, “how many hundreds of thousand of people are really affected with this glitch?”

Apple has released their numbers and it turns out that its nothing more than 0.55% of the whole totality of consumers who bought the unit.

Plus, ATT return rates: Meaning the percentage of the people who returned their unit back to Apple. Are only 1.7% compare to their 3GS’s 6%.iphone 4 return rates

Drop Calls: It only drops “less than 1″ call per 100 more than the 3GS.

‘Jesus!’ As Steve Jobs, exclaimed.

Solution to the Problem:

iphone 4 case

We all know that Apple recently provided an update for their iOS 4 now patched as iOS 4.1 – Jobs claimed that this made the bandwith calculation of the iPhone 4 even more exact.

Next, just what we predicted.  Apple is giving out free cases ‘bumpers’ for all the next iPhone 4 products going to be sold on the market (September 30) And they will even give you a refund if you bought a bumper already.

But that’s not all. If you’re not really satisfied of how your iPhone 4 performs, Apple is confidently stating that you can have a full refund for it. Provided that it’s undamaged (jailbroken not mentioned)

Notable Question and Answer portion:

Yep, this is the fun-part. As you can see, the whole ‘charismatic’ presentation of Steve Jobs only lasted for almost half an hour only and the rest are for the audience to ask him.

Were you told about the design before the phone was released?

Steve: Are you talking about the Bloomberg article? That’s a crock, and we’ve challenged them to show proof that that. If anyone had said this thing has problems, we would have dispatched people to deal with that issue… It’s all bullshit!

Are you willing to make an apology to investors?

Steve: You know we hear from customers who love this phone and have a great experience with it, and we’re doing a lot to help them with any issues they’re seeing. To investors, you know, you invest in the company we are, so if the stock goes down $5… I don’t think I owe them an apology.

Its clear that Steve Jobs is making the whole world realize that all phones have its weakness and problems. Although, he’s trying to point out that all smartphones have signal problems (antenna issues) as well. Somehow, you may or may not agree with that one. But, the man had stated some pretty interesting facts. Like the percentage of people who actually returned the iPhone 4, and the amount of customers who are reporting this ‘antennagate’ issue. This is not a question about perfection but realization about how many people are really affected with this issue. If you’re not getting the whole picture of what apple is implying, then here it goes:

‘It’s as if, the whole media is just inflating this iphone 4 problems because in reality, it’s not something so serious that users would want to return it immediately. ‘

The solutions that Apple provided are just what we expected, ‘free bumpers for everyone’ plus a full refund if you happen to return your unit. As he reiterated, ‘Apple wants it users to be happy always’.

You can also see, how Steve mastered the way of how he presents facts, data with proper authority. I mean, try that with your other CEO around.

Final excerpt:

“In ending, I’d like to talk about how we make decisions. We love our users, we love them. We try to surprise and delight them… and we work our asses off. We have a lot of products that are pretty great for them, Macs, iPhones, iPods, iPads.

So what do you think, are you satisfied with Steve Jobs solution for your problems?, were you really affected by that ‘antennagate’ issue? Show us in your comments below.

Consumer Reports are not recomending the iphone 4 due to the results of thier own testing. I would like to see them doing the same tests on the other smartphones such as Steve Jobs mentioned in this press conferance and would be interested in thier findings. I have a Blackberry 8830 and produced the same results by doing the so called “Death Grip. Why are other smartphone not having to be dealing with this issue? I believe it unfair for Consumer Reports to judge iphone 4 without testing the other phones.

Apple fans, at this point, are in fact retarded. I think reffering to them as users, is accurate, because you all sound like your addicted to crack. Users defend the Iphone 4, because you all have been brainwashed. You sound like a cult, a cult with crappy products. Jobs has the audacity to blame the media for over exaggerating the problem, when he’s the jackass who thinks its everyone else’s fault for holding it the wrong way. Apple products are for hipster idiots, and people who think they are going against the grain of consumerism, when if fact that is exactly what they apple wants you to do. If any of you were sensible, you’d buy a product because you can think for yourself. The droid at least lets anyone make an app. apple will render phones dead for jailbreaking and going to another carrier. The computers overheat, and are only good at looking good, while Pc, are used throughout the buisness world, personal gaming, because they don’t say, “the application unexpectedly quit”. I’ve never seen people succumb to adevertising so willingly. But its okay, because steve loves you, as the girl above me said. The only thing I can say at this point is good luck, I hope you figure out how to be an individual again without apple telling you how to do it.

You sir are a complete idiot. How naive you think that Droid is the best alternative and gives you freedom? I can’t say Apple is evil as well. But if you’re trying to imply that Droid is clean. Then you’re completely brainwashed already. A lost cause.

      No one loves you :D

    • blab (Reply) Posted on August 13th, 2010 at 10:15 am

haha, totally in agreement with you. They’re against consumerism……but only in any way that the GIANT APPLE CORPORATION AND IT’S GOD OF ALL STEVE JOBS SEES FIT! I remember meeting this guy once who looked like he just snorted 700 lines of coke when I told him I didn’t have an iPhone and I didn’t care to have an iPhone.

My Iphone 4 is way better than my 3 on reception, lets face it guys, other phone manufacturers are craping themselves again and making up stories because the iphone 4 is just way better than anything they can put out, they must be panicking so much to spread these stories, any mac user knows that any apple stuff is better than the other stuff on the market, ok you have to pay for it but its always been worth it in my experience, don’t care what they say my iphone 4 is without a doubt the best phone i have had, JRE445 – go back to your windows porn and viruses and your blue screen failures! what a prat, business world! HA! try the professional design world, bet your phone was designed on a mac and likely your windows computer (apart from the crap os) lets face it, we mac users laugh at the windows ads, coming up with 5 year old mac ideas and claiming it as theirs, “I’m a PC and windows seven was my idea” REALLY!!!! carry on playing catchup windows boy! I am sure that Bill loves you after you are in his pc cult, thats another thing, lets look at who created the pc, wasn’t microsoft was it, what about the pda, what about the ipod etc etc, we use macs because we are professionals and we need a good operating system not one that crashes all the time and costs us more money in the long run, well anyway i am not retarded or brainwashed, i am very much an individual, as much as i can be in front of a computer, i beg you JRE445 please stay with non mac items so i can laugh at you more………..RETARD!!!!

I must be part of the 99.45 percent that arent having issues.Apple phones are still the most useful and entertaining phone that ive ever had and i cannot speak or degrade the other phones because i dont own one.simple facts are your pretty much stuck with the carrier u have and if they dont offer the other phones your stuck with it.i know one person who has the droid and he likes it and it looks cool but he himself wishes he was with att so he could have got an apple instead.and this is his second droid the first one died in two days so quality control and testing affects all companies the same its a rush to get it out there and then deal with problems.bashing the other guy is normal but usually its based off of jealuosy and not facts.if you dont like apple dont buy apple theres a good reason there is the thing called free enterprise design your own phone and put it out there and we can rate or berate your products

Sensible comments/suggestions are always appreciated.
