While this year didn’t provide any news as controversial as the iPhone 4 / Jason Chen story last year, it doesn’t mean the arrival of its next-generation model won’t be surrounded with rumor-mills that are simply nerve-wracking as well.
Take for example this latest scoop from the blogosphere that the upcoming iPhone 5 will rather be called as “iPhone 4S”, simply because it’ll only have some minor features; and Apple’s real fifth generation device will only be released next year.

To be more specific, this news camed from Jefferies & Co analyst Peter Misek, claiming the iPhone going to be unveiled this “September” will be called as iPhone 4S, featuring upgrades on its processor (A5 CPU) and camera (8 megapixel) with HSPA+ support (possible 4G capability).
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that aside from iPhone’s availability on AT&T and Verizon, Apple would also introduce its messiah device to T-Mobile and Sprint this year; however, the possibility of Apple using a Qualcomm LTE chip for its new 4G model is still dark.
For those who are unaware, it’s almost confirmed right now that Apple would break its annual June-release of the iPhone this year and move it to September. In our previous reports, the so-called “iPhone 5” has been named as “iPhone Nano” and “iPhone Mini” as well. Likewise, expect to see more bits of details until we reach WWDC, which is only three weeks away from now!
