Does the iPhone can really make someone look sexier and more attractive? A recent study was conducted by one of the most popular dating sites OkCupid regarding its users’ smartphones as well as their sexual history. Based on the results, it appears that iPhone users have the most number of sexual partners followed by BlackBerry users, then Android users occupying the third rank.
The said study covered 9,785 smartphone users at the age 30 and revealed that among Android users a male user has an average of 6 sexual partners while a female has 6.1, while for BlackBerry users data revealed that male users have around 8.1 sexual partners while 8.8 for its female users. And on top of the charts are iPhone users which revealed that its male users have around 10 sexual partners on the average and 12.3 for the female iPhone users.
OkCupid has completed this study by looking into the hidden data behind the images uploaded by its users to the said website and find out which cameras were used to take these pictures. This data were link to the results of some personality test taken by many OkCupid users which asked for some information such as the number of sexual partners to come up with this survey.
Another survey conducted by phone retailers Phones4u among 1,500 women also revealed the same results, as almost 54% of these women preferred to date a man who owns an iPhone than those who own other smartphone brands. Some of the respondents find men owning an iPhone to be intelligent looking, more attractive and well-off since he can afford to buy an iPhone.
It seems so fascinating how the iPhone has made its users more attractive to the opposite sex and whether these surveys really means that it is the iPhone which really make this people more attractive or it just a coincidence that most people who are most likely to have more sex partners just preferred to have an iPhone than other smartphone brands.
In fact, some talented social scientists expressed some doubts on the accuracy of these surveys. They find this study conducted by OkCupid as just a plain correlation of data that has a potential for omitted variable bias. Well, this research made by this popular dating website may catch the attention of many and may even encourage people to buy more iPhones. But if you will carefully look into the results of this study you may somehow think what iPhones or even other smartphones has to do with a person’s sexual activity after all.
