According to John Lewis, Apple is set to unveil the next generation iPod Touch which is the iPod Touch 4G. Although at this moment, Apple has not made any confirmation regarding this issue. Apparently, this revelation was based from the information that Lewis heard from some major suppliers. With Lewis being a major retailer in UK, surely this information is quite reliable.

The next generation of iPod Touch is believed to target the young ones, preferably kids and teens. Well, if this product is intended for the young ones, surely it will come with very exciting features and easy to use.

According to Lewis, the iPod Touch 4G will come with an enhanced 5 megapixel camera with a flash that can capture HD video just like the iPhone 4 and be uploaded directly to You Tube. With its flash, surely it can take photos even in a poor lighting condition.

The iPod Touch 4G also comes with an improved accelerometer and new gyroscope like in the iPhone 4 which plays an important role in the improvement of the device’s credential when it comes to gaming. It will also include a front facing camera for Face Time calling over Wi-Fi which will enable its users to communicate with friends and loved ones at a zero cost.

Basically, it seems that the next generation of iPod Touch inherited most of the interesting features that the iPhone 4 have and even improved some of its features and particularly made some key improvements in its hardware. As of this moment, there is no information yet regarding its capacity and pricing and or if it will include a “retina display” upon its release.

Since this iPod refresh is estimated to happen in September, we can expect some more leaks regarding the iPod Touch 4G model in the future. Kids and teens must be very excited to see what this product has to offer since this is supposed to be designed for them.

So it has every thing that the iPhone 4 has, except for 3G. There has to be one advantage to the iPod Touch over the iPhone. The iPod nano has an advantage because it has a camera. The iPod Classic has an advantage because it has a whopping 120 gigs of memory. The iPod Shuffle has an advantage because it`s ultra-ultra-ultra portable. And what is the iPod Touch. Nothing, nothing but a limited feature iPhone. Apple should just kill the iPod Touch. They did it to the iPod mini, how is this any different.

Because for those of us who can’t afford to buy an iphone and can’t afford the stupid data plan you have to buy with it, the ipod touch is a very sensible solution. Not to mention not having to have at&t to call people. I used to have at&t on my phone, and its a load of crap. I now have verizon. much much better. So, the ipod touch is great for those of us who:
      1) can’t afford the actual phone
      2) can’t afford the data plan and
      3) hate at&t and don’t want to have to deal with them

If apple were to discontinue the ipod touch, they would lose a huge demographic and tons of money.

Hey. The iPod Touch is a major device, it uses iOS software unlike any other iPod and is the most expensive, high tech, iPod in history. Apparently you haven’t used an iPod Touch. The iPod Touch is not just another iPod. It has so many features within the apps provided in the app store and kill any other iPod. There is a reason this is the most popular iPod to date and every single consumer is happy with it.

Yeah the iPod touch is pretty much an iPhone minus the phone, that’s why it’s so popular the iPod touch sells more than the shuffle the nano or the classic. It does everything the iPhone does including calls (voip of course, but still calls) for free versus 70 bucks a month on AT&T. With no competition those prices won’t come down so this is the best alternative to actually having an iPhone. Plus it’s smaller and lighter

Well if the saga continues – the Original iPhone and the iPod touch have exactly the same design, so as when the 3G (got a facelift) and iPod Touch 2G also recieved, 3GS too and iPod Touch 3g – don’t you think that it’s also possible that the iTouch 4G can inherid iPhone 4′s square design?

does it have the same thickness as the 3g ipod touches? or will it be thicker?

Sensible comments/suggestions are always appreciated.
