If you’re a zealot following the news about iPhone 5, you might say there’s already no way Apple would reveal the next-generation iPod Touch (iPod Touch 5G) on September since it’s predicted the new iPhone along with a pending iPad 3 (iPad 2 Plus) is getting imminent.
However, it appears some insiders are still not giving up the fight yet and as of today, the blogosphere reports that an iPod Touch with 3G network access will be announced on September and it’ll have calling abilities too with the use of apps like Skype or even Facetime – if this one is official.

Just to clarify, this doesn’t sound like an iTouch 5G or anything but a cosmetic upgrade for the iPod Touch 4G giving it access to 3G networks. Likewise, this is an interesting update because we all know that you can’t simply do calls and send text messages over an iPod Touch out from the box. However, it would be moot to see Apple including only one hardware feature for the iPod Touch. Your best bet? This gem may be kept for a while and it will be revealed after the announcement of iPhone 5.
