Carol Bartz has been over her head at Yahoo since the day she started. Yahoo is a morally bankrupt company which cannot be blamed exclusively on Bartz. Jerry Yang ran the company without any sense of ethics or responsibility to either his employees or the public. What is amazing is that Yahoo still exists. Bartz has done her best to further Yahoo’s demise and can be expected to continue in this direction as long as she is CEO. Yahoo’s demise is certain. The only thing that is not certain is the exact date. Anyone care to place bets on when the final nail will be driven into Yahoo’s coffin?

“Reestructuring the company”. You said it right. Having friends that work for latin american markets and the stories that they tell me, it seems that the company has absolute no idea what is in fact happening there. Yahoo has go to start checking the numbers and by that I mean, really checking the numbers and not asking what they are. They should focus on resolving the whys and not the whats although usually resolving the whys means dealing with senior management, which obviously seems to be the problem in some areas.

You obviously never worked there. if you did, you would admire him less (especially if you had options and he’d trashed the value of them overnight because of his irrational hatred of MS over duty to his company)

I think she has no idea of the exact turmoil under which Yahoo! exists right now; she doesn’t have a fair idea on the financial status of the company. Instead of restructuring the company and trying to gain back the glorious days, she is messing up the things all over again making the situation even worse than it was before when Jerry Yang stepped down from C-Level position. She is denying the primary purpose for which the company was initially started “Search Marketing” or “Search Engine” and “Display Ads” thus undoubtedly giving a final blow to the company’s credibility, and making its employees loose their faith and confidence on the company as well as its top level management.

Carol Bartz is undeniably an idiot, but let’s not give her credit for all of the idiocy at Yahoo. That company was badly fouled up before she took over. The Yahoo 360 fiasco made that much clear. Consider the sequence of events: New profile with blogging function is created by Yahoo. For once, Yahoo has created a service that a lot of people love, and the people who are excited are grown ups. People old enough to have something to write about, unlike the high school crowd populating places like Myspace, and the content coming out of them is actually readable. What happens?

“What’s wrong with those pictures above? Hmm.. the black teen on the 1st quadrant looks like a cold-hearted dude who just got into an argument. Next, we love dogs, but the picture of the dog at the second quadrant looks “uninviting”. Lastly, the girl on the 3rd quadrant who supposedly should be having fun looked like she just twisted her neck involuntarily.”
