Right before the year ends, dozens of speculations are already heating up with Apple’s mytholical tablet. Starting from its equally elusive name in which the closest one that was unraveled is the term ‘iSlate’ – then to the leaked specs proclaiming two new patent technologies that’ll be infused with this slate. Hilariously, even some techblogs manage to produce their own ‘specs’ just to pacify the curiosity of some curious individuals.
Apple has been very good on concealing its fruit away from the techie-adam, albeit each day that unfolds more and more leaks are being purported, faster than a wildfire, for the people to eat. During the past week it has been really interesting how the simple theories about the new tablet materialize, I compiled all of the ‘good stuff’ out from the bad ones – but I also made sure to include the seems to be funny yet hoax’y proposals with the iSlate. So let’s bring on the contenders!
The Almost Officials
The new tablet will be endowed with two new patent technologies, Bottom factor: The new technology will enable users to go beyond what their normal touchscreen pads can do. A capability to sense and follow the type of actions you set on the tablet.
A good sample is when you tilt the keyboard on sideways – the tablet can detect and produce specific actions for that. Also, you can customize your tablet to fit in with your preference. As said, “Type without ever moving your hands off the keyboard”.
Fingerworks a multi-touch interface company Apple purchased five years ago (Not rumored to be shutdown by Apple today) had provided some interesting concepts on how does the newly improve touchscreen works.
New types of multitouch gestures will be implemented, some of them are already pre-installed but there’s a rumor that you can personalize your finger gesture and set a specific command for that (Impressive isn’t?) CG got ‘em all.

The Less Officials

Ah yes, the picture that raised a thousand questions – The purpose of this guide is to explain the possibilities of the hoaxes and rumors should it become true, once the tablet has officially been released. Some of the points being raised here are quite factual – which has officially been tackled before. Keep in mind that the ‘multitouch version of iWork’ is iThink should still be on the unlikely color scheme.
BGR’s mysterious tipster also have some good rumor-mill to weave. Albeit, BGR’s boys sometimes get the opposite of facts too. So just weigh in the possibilities.
- The tablet’s multi-touch gestures are “out of control.”
- It’s powered by an incredibly fast ARM CPU
- It runs on the iPhone kernel.
- The internal model number is K48AP.
- The tablet is basically an “iPhone on steroids”.
Now that’s the statement of the month, although I agree and disagree with some of the categories. If we are talking only about the specs – There’s no doubt that it’ll be on a steroids – Just look at the two newly patented tech features that will be infused with this slate.
However, if the steroids, is about ‘it’ getting the hype more than what iPhone had brought to the users then certainly this device is not the one which can achieve such popularity. Making a tablet’s usability equal on how users used their PC’s, notebook, mobile phone everyday would take years to achieve.
Two and a half years ago, when iPhone was introduced, people are already honed with using a cellphone in fact PDA’s has already been a normal techie-device for us – so the transition of people getting hooked up with a smartphone like the iPhone has been very fast. In fact, you can’t barely notice the transition time at all. People just dive in and get that iDevice. However, for Apple’s tablet, we all know that’s not the case.
Also the price of this slate is somewhat not what you called the average – If Apple can’t give enough answers why a practical user should buy this ‘almost a grand tablet’ then the question if this tablet will be the next ‘game changer’ won’t even be close to existence.
So far, let’s end this division with some fictitious yet reasonably fair demo on how the UI of the tablet will perform.

The Hoax Officials
Nothing makes a rumor complete than to start it with some fakey specs, and fakey pics as well.
And wheu, this one is utterly disappointing. It was said, that this LCD will be the one that’s going to be used for the tablet.
Speaking of 10.1 inch LCD’s, there was a hoax that “ The availability of 10.1-inch multi-touch LCD and OLED display panels from Asian suppliers is said to be nonexistent, as one designer has claimed Apple “pre-ordered them all.” Endgeeks sure was fast to answer this rumor.
“Our take: We certainly saw plenty of new 10.1-inch netbooks and slates at CES, including some multitouch LCD units, and no one was complaining. Also, we saw several larger OLED displays at CES, but they were all too expensive and impractical for shipping products, so that’s gotta be one hell of a discount.”
And some ‘Le Tablet’ story for you monsieur/mademoiselle.
Stéphane Richard, second in command at Orange, was asked on a Europe 1 radio program about the Apple Tablet. When he was asked whether such a tablet will be announced before the end of the month, he responded “Yes,” and when asked whether Orange users would get it, he responded “Sure!”
After some help from a good samaritan translator, endgadget got what the Orange Exec ‘supposed’ to mean.
Predictably saying these comments are being taken out of context, that Richard was “merely confirming that he is aware of the speculation surrounding a launch.
So you see? The Apple Silencer Group of Assassins once again prevailed of concealing their mythological tablet to mankind. Hooray!
Wrap-up:
We are still about two weeks away from the official statement of Apple, then here we are again going into some bizaare rampage – so thirsty to know what’s the truth, well in fact the truth is not yet plausible because the one who will reveal it doesn’t want to .. just yet… Can’t we just wait for 13 more days?
For the coming days expect that there will be a lot of leaks about what’s the real score for the slate tablet. Just don’t complain if you happened to be that person who believes on that yet another seemingly believable hoax then it turns out it was quite the opposite of the real one. See? I told you so…
Me? I’ll stick with the official one.
