Apple has hinted that a beta testing of iTunes 10.5.1 is on the works as a prelude to the release of its iTunes Match service (also in beta) even as it has officially released the iTunes 10.5.

Only US developers can taste the iTunes Match beta for now. The latest beta contains bug fixes and enhancements and is considered as the passport to iTunes Match beta which will be denied access to iCloud libraries at the end of beta testing. Downloadable versions include those compatible with Mac, Windows and Windows 64. The iTunes 10.5 GM release does not include the iTunes Match.
In an Apple event held recently, iTunes Match was believed to be featured in iTunes 10.5 which the company officially backtracked. Apple addressed the iTunes Match remaining issues with iTunes 10.5 by transferring the same to iTunes 10.5.1. To recall, iTunes Match allows users to match their music library with Apple’s database thereby allowing them to access these tracks via iCloud compatible devices registered to their name.
The service is initially available in US but future worldwide application is expected upon its official release. It has a price tag of $24.99 a year. To reiterate, iTunes users may have to wait for or need to update to iTunes 10.5.1 in order to avail of the iTunes Match service.
