After getting our hopes too up last week over that fake twitter post claiming the iPad 2 Jailbreak is about to arrive, several tweets have been unearthed today from iPhone developers such as MuscleNerd and Comex addressing the good news that the iPad 2 JB they’re working on is for real, and saying “awesome” for this tool would be an understatement.
For those who are unaware, it’s 99% confirmed now that JailbreakMe would be the name of this new tool, considering Comex is the main hacker to find its exploit. Likewise, since his last tool created was JailbreakMe 2.0, it’s possible the name for the new jailbreak will be JailbreakMe 3.0.
On a nutshell, JBM 3.0 would be faster since it will use “unionfs” instead of the usual stash technique. This approach doesn’t transfer pre-installed Apple apps making the process of Jailbreaking faster. In fact, it’s even said that after the JB is done, you won’t even need to restart your iOS device unlike most of the other JB tools we heard before.
According to MuscleNerd, the initial time to install Cydia would be “shorter”, and this tool simplifies “sandboxing problems” since the apps don’t need to be moved.
The next best part? Aside from the iPad 2, it will also work on iPhone 3GS / iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G / 4G and iPad 1. This gives us the impression that developers might push the release of JailbreakMe 3.0 on the iOS 5 debut that should be arriving this “fall”.
Basically, its like hitting two birds in one stone – having a jailbroken iOS 5 available on iPad 2! What could be more better than that?
