Looks like the iPad fever has been infecting every corner of the world that even in the flight business, it is getting attention. Australian budget carrier Jetstar is planning to include the rental for an iPad as part of their services to their customers.
The Qantas Airway’s low-cost subsidiary announced that it will be conducting an on-board trial of iPad on their selected domestic services during the last 2 weeks of June. Yes, the airline is looking for the possibility of the iPad as an additional in-flight entertainment offering for all of their passengers.
Passengers can rent and use the Apple’s tablet device for a $10 AUD or US$8.40 which will come loaded with bunch of movies, TV programs, eBooks, music videos, games and CDs. The device will be given to your hands ready to use all throughout the flight. As for the moment, Jetstar has portable media player (for rent) on-board but with limited entertainment options on short-haul flights. So it looks like charges will not be a big deal to passengers at all.
The said plan will start with trials that will begin on selected domestic Australian routes with 30 iPads on each aircraft. The airline will be working hand in hand with Bluebox Avionics and Stellar Inflight which are specialists in in-flight entertainment solutions in delivering the trial.
The idea of including the iPad experience in the airlines services is a part of their aim of enhancing customer’s experience at Jetstar, said Mr. Bruce Buchanan, Jetstar’s Chief Executive Officer. They believe that the idea has a strong appeal among their passengers and thus would help increase their demand on the entire domestic network and later on the international flights.
Also being known for offering such low flight rates, great customer service and bunch of selections, the airline is still looking for other things which their customers will love. And at the same time, they are able to introduce the latest innovation on technology and entertainment
So, although your flight will be a very long one, with the iPad on hand, you will not only feel comfortable but also will be entertained that you won’t be able notice it. For sure, this idea is exciting and amazing!
