Video games involving animals are already common nowadays. Known and existing ones include Kinectimals and Nintendogs. The former is good for Kinect-powered Xbox 360 and is applicable for children.
Gameplay is focused on player-virtual animal interactions that include free-form activity, teaching tricks and animal guidance. There are eleven participating virtual wild-cat pets in the gameplay. An upcoming sequel, Kinectimals: Now With Bears! is expected on October 11, 2011 for Windows Phone 7. The Kinect system is used to play with, feed and care the 11 cubs in Fur Town some of whom are featured unlockables. This game is believed to be superior to Nintendogs due to its downloadable content and the use of Microsoft Tag Scan Code.
Nintendogs + Cats is another real-time pet video game designed for Nintendeo 3DS and a sequel to Nintendogs. In the gameplay, dogs and cats undergo training and players interact with them thru the touchscreen, camera and microphone. Featured animal activities include user greeting, licking the user thru the screen, mimicker, wearing of hats in response to a character card from Nintendo. Much of the original play in Nintendogs is retained and the game comes in three versions: Golden Retriever & New Friends, French Bulldog & New Friends and Toy Poodle & New Friends.
