A mysterious Lenovo handset that resembles the upcoming LePhone S2 made its way online surprising tech pundits around when it revealed a different platform.

Some of Lenovo’s product managers were responsible for showing purported images of the Lephone S2-like device sporting Windows Phone OS. If you remember, the original LePhone had Android OS (not to mention other Lenovo smartphones and tablet units are also clad in Android suits, as well).
We’re a little surprise but not until we discovered that Lenovo and Microsoft were rumored to have a secret meeting back in December 2010, wherein Microsoft was said asking the former to utilize its mobile platform. So, perhaps it is true and did work out.
Going back, the upcoming LePhone S2 was previously stated to have Gingerbread, 1GHz Qualcomm CPU, 8MP camera and a more compact chassis than its predecessor. Certainly a huge improvement but what baffles us, still, is the purported WP-OS integration.

Lenovo’s smartphones are currently being retailed in China, which previously banned Facebook and Twitter because of political/government issues. And as we know, WP has a seamless integration with those 2 social networking sites – which means that the handset might be distributed outside the country.
On the other hand, some tech sites mentioned that the “Windows keys” on the images were “barely visible” suggesting that the device could be an early prototype and might not be released in public. Stay tuned.
