People have been talking, whispering and even blogging about the rumors that Lenovo will be releasing a 10 inch thinkpad! Well, that is something to talk about. In fact, they’ve been talking about it last year, and it’s only now that the specifications to this thinkpad were released. It’s become official. Lenovo has created a Thinkpad Mini.
The Lenovo Thinkpad Mini 10 is as much for the educational use of students as for business purposes. In fact, the only place where you could avail of this thinkpad is if you enroll at a school in Australia! Students from this school have reported seeing several units of the mini laptop to be rolled to the next group of students.
The Mini 10 is supposedly a smaller version of the X100e, at of course, 10 inches but with a screen resolution of 1280×720, the number that was leaked a couple of months ago. They’re both thought to have the same sized chassis and a thick bezel around the display and a Windows 7 OS. The Mini 10 will have an Intel platform Pine Trail, the 1.66GHz Intel Atom 450 processor, and the integrated Intel GMA X3150 graphics chip.
The mini laptop has an isolation keyboard, and has the Lenovo Track Pad with the pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard and a touch pad below the keyboard. In addition to this, the keyboard is spill resistant. So, for students who worry about spilling their coffee or beverage on their laptop, don’t. Everything seems to be the same as with the X100e, but the Mini 10 promises to be in a much affordable price range and the battery life is longer.
The Lenovo Thinkpad Mini 10 sounds like a student’s ultimate companion in school. Small, lightweight and it has good specifications to boost. Plus their parents wouldn’t feel the weight of the price since Lenovo has promised that this line of mini laptop would be affordable, as it is targeted for the student population and not for the business crowd. I guess this is why the mini laptop is rumored to be distributed to a school in Australia only. There has been no confirmation if it will be released in the US.
The price and the release date of the Mini 10 ThinkPad hasn’t been announced yet. Just keep your ears turned up to hear about it.
