Lensbaby has just announced a new product under its Optic Swap System called the Edge 80 Optic.

The Edge 80 is an optic lens with 80mm and has an internal 12-blade adjustable aperture. What is amazing about this new lens is its capability to give photographers the freedom to control the depth of the field of any pictures just by purchasing the single lens. As stated by Lensbaby in its press release, a photographer getting Edge 80 will “gain access to a system offering 8 interchangeable optics” which they consider to be an “unprecedented system within the world of photography”.
With it photographers can make great ‘straight’ photos with the lens pointing straight. But, when the photographer wants a different look, he can tilt the lens, which will give a razor sharp slice of selective focus using the same image. The magic can be seen on its tilting feature, which can create various focuses of the image, whether vertical, horizontal or diagonal slices. It is also said that photographer can easily change from f/2.8 through f/22, simply by rotating the dial of the lens. As suggested by Lensbaby, this feature will be better understood by going to Edge 80 Optic simulator.
The Lensbaby’s Edge 80 Optic is compatible with bending lens bodies, such as Composer, Muse, Scout and Control Freak. The product is now available for $300.
