Looking back at the MWC 2011 event last month, the crème de la crème of all tablets were obviously the Motorola Xoom and LG G-Slate. And while the HP Touchpad made an impression on a different gathering, it’s still evident that customer’s eyes are on the Xoom tablet. That being said, it has a lot of impediments and the number one factor why it’s hard to buy is because of its price tagged at 800 bucks sans the contract.

Actually, this is the reason why I shifted my view for the LG G-Slate hoping that its price would be at par with the iPad which is at the 500 USD zone. But I was wrong! You see, it has been revealed today that G-Slate would also have a bitter price of 699.99 USD whereas its retail price would come out as 799.99 USD. Sure, it looks like its 100 bucks cheaper with the Xoom but it’s still hard to swallow especially if your budget always fall on the 500 USD zone – a place where iPad is the king!
Again, I am not saying G-Slate is a bad tablet. If you’ll look at its specifications, it’s highly similar with Xoom packing with a dual core Tegra 2 CPU, Honeycomb and it even has a 3D-ready screen display which doesn’t require any 3D-glasses. But the bottom-factor here is the customers. For all we know, there’s a big possibility that the upcoming iPad 2 WiFi model would have an insanely low price of 399 USD. Which is a total killer for these pricey Android tablets.
So what do you think, would you pick the LG G-Slate or the iPad 2? Show us in your comments below.
